Construction materials distributor
Background
In January 2026, Client X1, a construction supplies distributor, requested weekly flatbed deliveries between Dammam and Riyadh. The requirement was three deliveries per week of palletized cargo, within Sunday-to-Thursday service days and a four-hour delivery window.
From requirements to operations
- 12 January: reviewed trip frequency, cargo and delivery windows.
- 19 January: issued a proposal covering price, service levels and damage-claim procedures.
- 26 January: signed the contract, including protection of shipment volumes and pricing.
- 27 January: Sales and Operations approved the account and appointed a named contact.
- 28 January: held a dispatch kickoff briefing documenting site-specific unloading requirements.
- 2 February to 27 March: delivered the first eight weeks of service.
Results
All 24 scheduled deliveries arrived on time during the first eight weeks, with zero damage claims. The client requested a second weekly route starting in April 2026.
Lesson learned
Capturing unloading requirements at kickoff helped avoid friction on the first deliveries. A documented kickoff briefing is recommended for every new account, not only larger ones. This practice falls under Client Onboarding and Contracting in the Client Relationship and Service Management Policy. The X1 identifier protects the client’s privacy.
